Description

The K-ASSAY®Human Collagen IV ELISA is an enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of human type IV collagen in urine or serum.

Collagen IV is the major component of basement membranes. It comprises of six homologous alpha chains, three of which form triple helical molecules that dimerise to form larger networks. The kidney glomerular basement membrane forms a critical filtration barrier between the blood and urinary space.

Abnormal degradation or deposition of Collagen IV is associated with kidney diseases such as: Goodpasture’s syndrome, Alport post-transplantation disease, diabetic nephropathy and non-diabetic nephropathy.
