Description

The K-ASSAY®Human Fibronectin ELISA is an enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of fibronectin in human cell culture supernatants, serum and plasma.

Fibronectin is a multifunctional, ubiquitous glycoprotein that exists in two forms, plasma and cellular. It comprises of two almost identical disulfide-bound polypeptides each approximately 250 kDa in molecular weight. Fibronectin binds to numerous ECM components such as collagen, fibrin, heparin and integrins that mediate its role in cytoskeletal organisation, cell adhesion, cell motility, opsonization and wound repair.

Abnormal expression of fibronectin is commonly associated with fibrotic processes in human diseases such as interstitial lung disease and nephropathy.
