Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) ELISA
BioMarkers | Diabetic Nephropathy | Fibrosis
Description
The K-ASSAY®Human Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) ELISA is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative determination of TIMP1 in human cell culture supernatant, serum, plasma and saliva.
TIMP-1, also known as erythroid-potentiating activity (EPA), is a 22- kDa glycoprotein that regulates connective tissue turnover by inhibiting the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) such as MMP-2 and disintegrin-metalloproteinases. It also plays a role in cell differentiation, migration and apoptosis.
Imbalance of TIMPs is associated with tissue remodeling in atherosclerosis, fibrosis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as well as degenerative diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.
