Description

The K-ASSAY® Human Adipocyte Fatty Acid Binding Protein (A-FABP) ELISA is designed for the quantitative determination of human A-FABP in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, body fluid and tissue homogenate.

A-FABP, also called FABP4 fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) is a cytokine secreted from adipocytes that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. It is also produced in macrophages, endothelial cells and glial cells.

A-FABP has been implicated in obesity-related cardio-metabolic complications.  Circulating A-FABP is elevated in individuals with obesity, type 2 diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
