Description

The K-ASSAY®Human fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF-23) ELISA is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative determination of human FGF23 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, body fluid and tissue homogenate.

FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities relevant to biological processes, such as cell growth and tissue repair. FGF23 works as a hormone to regulate phosphorus and vitamin D metabolism. Specifically, FGF23 reduces serum phosphate level by suppressing phosphate reabsorption in the renal proximal tubules and phosphate absorption in the intestine.

Elevated FGF23 levels are associated with cardiovascular and chronic kidney diseases (CKD).
