Description

The K-ASSAY®Human Interleukin-18 (IL-18) ELISA is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative determination of IL-18 in human cell culture supernatant, serum and plasma.

IL-18, also known as Interferon-gamma-inducing factor (IGIF), is a potent proinflammatory cytokine. It augments natural killer (NK) cell activity and stimulates both T helper type 1 (Th1) and Th2 responses.

Several human autoimmune diseases are associated with elevated production of IL-18 including rheumatoid arthritis, Type-1 diabetes, Crohn’s disease and psoriasis Increased serum concentration of IL-18 is also observed in atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease and IgA nephropathy.
