Interleukin-6 (IL-6) ELISA
BioMarkers | Diabetic Nephropathy | Inflammation
Description
The K-ASSAY®Human Interleukin (IL)-6 ELISA is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative determination of IL-6 in human biological samples.
IL-6 is a multifunctional cytokine involved in inflammation and infection responses, including the acute phase response in the liver. It can signal via its membrane-bound receptor (classic) or soluble receptor (trans-signaling) to elicit both anti- and pro-inflammatory responses. IL-6 plays a pivotal role in activating the immune system, metabolic control (insulin sensitivity), bone metabolism and nociception.
Overproduction of IL-6 is implicated in aging and chronic diseases including: Type 2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis and renal disease.
