Interleukin-8 (IL-8) ELISA

Description

The K-ASSAY® Human Interleukin-8 (IL-8) ELISA is designed for the quantitative determination of human IL-8 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant body fluid and tissue homogenate.

IL-8, also called CXCL8, is a proinflammatory chemokine produced by phagocytes and mesenchymal cells exposed to inflammatory stimuli. Its major pathophysiological role is the attraction and activation of neutrophils to sites of inflammation. Activation of cells occurs after binding to the IL-8 receptors, CXCR1 and CXCR2.

High levels of IL-8 are reported in chronic inflammatory diseases such as gout, coronary artery disease, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease (IDB).
