Description

The K-ASSAY®Human soluble Tumor Necrosis Factor receptor-1 (sTNFR-1) ELISA is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative determination of sTNFR-1 in human cell culture supernatant, serum, plasma and urine.

sTNFR1, also known as also known as tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 1A, is a cytokine receptor that binds tumor necrosis factors (TNF) including TNF-alpha. The primary role of sTNFR1 is to antagonize and buffer TNF-alpha. Additional effector functions include the induction of monocyte and eosinophil apoptosis.

Elevated levels of sTNFR1 are associated with diabetic nephropathy and non-diabetic nephropathy, progression to End Stage Renal disease (ESRD), lupus nephritis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and schizophrenia.
