Kidney Injury Molecule-1 (KIM-1) ELISA
BioMarkers | Diabetic Nephropathy | Injury and Dysfunction
Description
The K-ASSAY® Human Kidney injury Molecule-1 (KIM-1) ELISA is designed for the quantitative determination of KIM-1 human biological samples.
KIM-1 is a type 1 trans-membrane structural glycoprotein with an immunoglobulin and mucin domain. It is expressed at the apical membrane of epithelial cells in proximal tubule following ischaemia/ injury. Shedding of the KIM-1 antigen into the urine a useful biomarker for kidney injury.
Increased urinary concentration of KIM-1 is a sensitive biomarker for kidney injury, with diagnostic and prognostic uses in kidney disease.
