Nephrin ELISA
BioMarkers | Diabetic Nephropathy | Injury and Dysfunction
Description
The K-ASSAY® Human Nephrin ELISA is designed for the quantitative determination of human Nephrin in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, body fluid and tissue homogenate.
Nephrin is a trans-membrane adhesion molecule expressed in glomerular podocytes. It plays a role in the structure and function of the kidney glomerular filtration barrier. The extracellular domain of nephrin contributes to filtration as part of the slit diaphragm while the intracellular domain of nephrin is associated with the actin cytoskeleton and various signaling molecules.
Changes in nephrin expression are associated with proteinuric, glomerular diseases such as diabetic nephropathy.
