NGAL ELISA
BioMarkers | Diabetic Nephropathy | Injury and Dysfunction
Description
The K-ASSAY® Human Lipocalin-2/NGAL ELISA is designed for the quantitative determination of Lipocalin-2/NGAL in human biological samples.
Lipocalin-2 (LCN2), also called neutrophil gelatinase- associated lipocalin (NGAL), is a 25-kDa secreted glycoprotein originally identified as siderophore binding peptide in neutrophils. It plays an important role in the innate immune response to bacterial infection. LCN2 has proinflammatory activities in various cells.
NGAL is used as a biomarker of kidney injury and rheumatic disease. Increased synthesis of LCN2 is also observed in obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
