Podocalyxin (PCX) ELISA

BioMarkers | Diabetic Nephropathy | Injury and Dysfunction

Description

The K-ASSAY® Human Podocalyxin (PCX) ELISA is a quantitative assay of human PCX in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant body fluid and tissue homogenate.

PCX is a member of the CD34 family of transmembrane sialomucins expressed by kidney podocytes, hematopoietic progenitors, vascular endothelia, and a subset of neurons. It is a major constituent of the glycocalyx of podocytes in the glomerulus, where it plays a role in maintaining podocyte morphology.

Dysregulated expression of PCX has been implicated in cancer malignancy. Increased urinary PCX levels are seen in patients with diabetes, nephropathy and lupus nephritis.
